Even if the economy is roaring, an addition to your home is a solid investment.  Perhaps the children are grown and you're visualizing an expansion of the master bedroom into a new suite with fireplace and sunken tub.  Or maybe the grandchildren won't all fit around the table at mealtime so the kitchen needs to become a great room.
